Privacy Policy
The short version
We collect what we need to run accounts and billing, and nothing else. We do not run analytics or advertising trackers on this site. We do not sell your personal information. We never have.
What we collect
- Account information — name and email address, when you create an account or join the waitlist.
- Billing information — handled entirely by our payment processor. We never see or store your card number.
- Authentication data — managed by our authentication provider.
- Usage necessary to enforce your tier — for example, a count of detail views, so free-tier limits work.
- Standard server logs — including IP address, kept for security and abuse prevention.
What we do not collect
As of the effective date above, Gridwatch runs no analytics platform, no advertising pixels, and no third-party tracking cookies. If that changes, this page will be updated before the change takes effect.
Why we process it
To provide the service, process payment, enforce subscription tiers, secure the service, and send you service-related communications — and, if you opt in, the launch report and product updates.
Who we share it with
Only the vendors required to operate: our authentication provider, payment processor, email delivery provider, and hosting provider. Each processes data on our instructions. We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising.
Retention
Account data is kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for legal and accounting purposes. Server logs are retained on a short rolling basis.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information through our contact form, or by writing to hello@thegridwatch.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable law. We honor verified requests.
The registry itself is public-record data
The facilities, parcels, owners, and filings in the registry are compiled from public government records. That information is not personal data collected from you, and this policy does not restrict it. Where a public record contains an individual's name — for example, a property owner of record — Gridwatch reproduces only what the public record shows.
Children
The service is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
We will post updates here with a revised effective date.
